Name of Assignment: Hydraulic Claw
Subject: Engineering
Facilitator/Teacher: Mr. Hazlet
This assignment we created a claw that used a hydraulic system to lift and grab objects of different sizes using material like chopsticks, glue, string, cardboard, wood, and hydraulics.
When doing this project I used Interpersonal Skills. I was able to overcome hardships and continue working with my partner throughout the project by using this skill.
From this project, I am most proud of being able to create the claw from really awful materials. The claw can't work very well because the materials are all pretty bad, but it is still able to pick things up and rotate with the spinning gear on the bottom.
The most challenging part of this task was making everything work. I tried very hard to make all the parts work and move effectively, but it was still barely functional. It was also very hard shaping everything to be the perfect size.

If were able to redo this project today, I would change how long the claw was because it being so long made it very heavy and difficult for the hydraulics to lift. If we made it shorter it could have gone lower and higher as well as have made it easier to pick things up.
I developed my interpersonal skills by working with a partner through this project and work through many different solutions with him.
This essay was alike to some of the robot build I did in 8th grade with Mr. Jake. Doing that was a lot of fun and it made the work interesting to complete.
Applying the knowledge learned from writing this project could be done if I decide to take an engineering class in the future.
