Name of Assignment: HARF
Subject: Community Engagement
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Ford
This assignment we have done tons of things with the organization HARF or the Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation. We learned about the economic of their organization, their hardships, what it is like to run a non-profit organization, and what it is like caring for animals
When doing this project I used Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy. We were able to understand and help benefit this organization financially and economically by helping them establishing a social media presence for them to spread the word and message about their business.

From this project, I am most proud of the tutorial video we made for HARF. This video was a struggle to make and It was difficult do bare through with the process. When we finished the video it was shown to our class and will be shown to the children of Kihei Charter.

The most challenging part of this task was getting everything started. We had talks about doing the video before winter break of 2021 and we had just begun the project at the start of April or the end of March. A lot of things also did not get started very quickly too, the organization had their speaker leave them and we did not know what we were going to do and when, but in the end everything went okay.
When developing the Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy I learned a lot about how social media presence can have a large effect on a business or organization. We worked hard to create content for their social media in hopes that they could bring in more donations. I especially developed these with the video and with creating something that could bring attention to the organization and help people learn about dogs.
If were able to redo this project today, I would have not asked to create a video and would have instead opted in for creating an official HARF twitter account. I think that this would have been much more useful to them because I gave the organization a blank canvas and they could choose how to market their business with it.
My experience with HARF wasn't like anything that had ever happened before, many things went wrong and just didn't work out, but we always found a solution and I think that is what being an organization is all about, overcoming your hardships.
Applying the knowledge learned from writing this informal essay will be done when I revise it. We will likely have a revision of this essay soon and I will definitely use the feedback I gave myself to improve the essay.
