Name of Assignment: Egg Drop Lab
Subject: Physics
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Hayes
Description of Work/Assignment: Create a device to protect an egg from a free fall. Write about your processes and explain the physics behind your experiment.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? This assignment addressed thinking and problem-solving skills. For this lab, I had to think of an idea and produce a final product to protect an egg from a fall.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? From this assignment, I am most proud of how genius my idea was. I decided to inflate two inner-tubes and force one through the center of the other. It worked.

What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult part of this task was inflating the tubes. It took me a while to fill them up with air and I got winded. Blowing them up was pretty fun too though because people were looking at me funny. How could you improve this work? To improve this work, I think the chassis that the egg sat in could have been improved. It was put inside a bread crumb box, without much room for padding on the sides. I would have felt more confident if there was more space on each side for protection. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? I really worked on my thinking and problem-solving skills because I had many ideas. I originally wanted to experiment using a water bottle and dropping it with the egg inside, but I decided against this because I thought that the tubes would be more likely to work as protection for the eggs.

How can you apply this to future learning? I will be able to use what I learned about the transfer of energy in future labs in physics.
This project was most similar to the egg drop I did in sixth grade. This time, I succeeded in protecting the egg.
